White remains coy about his future amid Liverpool links

Ben White has refused to rule out a permanent switch to Leeds United this summer, amid reports linking him with a move to Liverpool.

The centre-back has shone at Leeds on loan from Brighton this season, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side second in the Championship.

White has been a colossus at the back, starting every single league game and proving to be one of his side’s most important players.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the youngster was coy when asked about potentially joining Leeds for good, simply saying, “Who knows?”

White could be a great signing for Liverpool, if their interest ends up being genuine. He could arrive at Anfield as a fourth-choice centre-back who doesn’t expect to play every week, playing an important role as a squad player.

Finding that type of player is hard for Liverpool, but White could be ideal, with his quality on the ball (85.5 per cent pass completion rate and two assists in the league this season) tailor-made to thrive for a possession-based team like the Reds.

I would be surprised if Brighton were willing to sell him, considering the great season he has had at Elland Road, but Liverpool should be keeping a close eye on the situation.

With Dejan Lovren potentially moving on – nothing concrete has appeared in that respect yet – White could fill that defensive vacancy nicely.
