Who is Martin Ødegaard?

Martin Ødegaard is regarded as one of Europe’s hottest prospects around, getting eyed up by many European giants including Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. However 5 times European champions Liverpool FC look to be leading the race to get the youngster to put pen to paper and make a staggering Anfield deal, and one most definitely for the future.

It is clear that Ødegaard has a greatened fascination for the club and one of his many idols Coutinho may be helping him adapt to the English game and furthermore, to add to this, Ødegaard has now had 2 training sessions with the Liverpool first team, and looked more than happy whilst he was there.

The reason that Liverpool look to lead the chase is due to all of the evidence listed above but also the fact that the youngster’s entire family also support the club including the teen sensation himself.

Currently there is a lot of ‘hype’ and excitement labelled to the starlet as he looks to settle at a club that can raise both his game and footballing ability even further, but whether or not the desired destination is Anfield is yet to be found out.

Why Martin Ødegaard?

The Norwegian ‘wonder-kid’ was born in 1998 making him just 15 years of age which is an incredible age to be playing for a Norwegian league first team, that team beeing Strømsgodset.

Stats, stats, stats, it’s what makes Martin the player that he is:

Currently the youngster has had a total of 23 appearances for his club and scored a total of 5 goals. He has also incredibly made 3 first national team appearances, one in which he played the entire 90 minutes, however this resulted in a total of 0 goals. But regardless of the totals at international level, he became the youngest ever player to play for his international side at 15 years and 253 days of age.

It’s fair to say that Martin has bags of talent and in the near future will carry more and more on his shoulders, International teammate Morten Gamst Pedersen dubbed Ødegaard the most talented player he had ever seen, saying “For his age he is unbelievable – his knowledge of the game is unbelievable and his technical skills are fantastic”.

Currently Ødegaard has one major honour, the Tippeligaen young player of the year, which is one of the only trophies that he can possibly be in contention for due to his age of 15, which slightly restricts him.

It’s fair to say that Ødegaard is worth the payment, regardless of what the fee may be, and if Brendan is able to get the youngster and nurture him under his wing then there could be many more glory days to come.

Has the next Messi been found, or will all this hype come to an end if the player was to show his ability in what is regarded as one of the toughest leagues in the world, the Premier League.
