Last season saw a number of young reserve players break through into the senior squad under Klopp.
Opportunities often came due to injuries sustained by first team players and a general lack of squad depth, and while previous manager Brendan Rodgers had been similarly youth-oriented, the current boss seems to have a knack for developing younger stars into genuine starting XI contenders (Sheyi Ojo being the prime example).
With a gruelling pre-season ahead, every player in a red shirt will be doing their utmost to impress Klopp when the opportunity arises, not least the younger players in the squad, who all know that hard work and commitment are key to catching the manager’s eye.
I’ve taken a look here at the young Reds who broke through (or almost broke through) into the first team last season and assess whether or not they should be kept on at the club, loaned out, or sold this summer.
