Zaha would be a great signing for Liverpool, claims pundit

Wilfried Zaha would be an excellent signing for Liverpool, according to former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino.

Zaha has been Crystal Palace’s key man for several years now, catching the eye with his pace and trickery.

The Ivorian played a key role in Fernandinho’s late own goal for Manchester City on Saturday, in the Eagles’ 2-2 draw at the Etihad.

Zaha had a failed spell at Manchester United between 2013 and 2015, but he has been linked with other ‘big six’ clubs in recent times.

Someone who believes the 27-year-old would be a star for Liverpool is Cascarino, who told talkSPORT that he believes he would fit in well at Anfield:

I went to Selhurst Park a couple of seasons ago and I watched Liverpool against Palace, and Jurgen Klopp was continually on to Trent Alexander-Arnold about keeping on Zaha.

I came away from the game thinking Klopp, with the way he plays, would be really interested in a someone like Wilf.

He got a penalty that day, he got in behind Trent and won a penalty.

I think he’d be a player who would fit in well at Liverpool, because he doesn’t stop running.

I actually think Zaha is an overrated player, despite still being a very talented one.

Too often, there isn’t enough substance to his game, with his quick feet and clever dribbles coming to nothing.

He only has three goals and two assists to his name in the Premier League this season, which isn’t impressive for a player supposedly seen as top class.

On the face of it, he can often look as dangerous at the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, but they deliver endless end product.

For this reason, I wouldn’t like to see Zaha in a Liverpool shirt, especially with him turning 28 later this year.
