Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander Arnold says it will be an ‘honour’ to play against Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League final later this month.
In an interview with the Liverpool Echo, the 19-year old said that Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all time and he is keen to show what he can do against the Portuguese superstar.
The Academy graduate burst onto the first-team scene to great effect this season, after signing a new contract, with his defensive and attacking capabilities gaining plaudits across the country.
He has made 32 appearances this campaign, and should he start on Kiev on May 26th he will become the youngest player ever to start a European Cup final.

Alexander-Arnold said:
With Ronaldo being one of the greats, probably one of the best players ever, it’s going to be an honour to hopefully play against him.
You’ve just got to focus on the game and if he’s a direct opponent you have to see what the strengths and weaknesses are and use them to your advantage.
I want to challenge myself and test myself against the best players in the world and there’s not many people better than the likes of Ronaldo. It will be a huge test for everyone and hopefully we come out on top.
Ronaldo is, of course, one of the greatest players to have ever lived, having won all manner of club and country honours, as well as the Ballon d’Or trophy five times – and he’s well fancied with 888sport to do the same again.
Real Madrid are competing in their fourth Champions League final in five years and will be looking to win it for the thirteenth time, whilst Liverpool will be keen to make it six.
When asked if he was a fan of Ronaldo, Alexander-Arnold added:
Yeah, I suppose so. Not when he was playing for Man United though! You have to admit he’s an unbelievable player and he’s done exceptional things in the game. The numbers that he does season in, season out are absolutely unbelievable. Come May 26 we’ll be looking to stop him and the rest of Real Madrid.
