Bogdan says there is little point in him going on US tour

Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan says he hopes to get a move away from the club before the pre-season tour of the US.

The 28-year-old only joined the Reds last season, but failed to impress in six appearances last season and was left out of Hungary’s 23-man squad for Euro 2016.

And with Simon Mignolet and Danny Ward likely to be given a rest after the tournament, Jurgen Klopp will probably want Bodgan involved in pre-season preparations.

But the former Bolton man says there is little point in him going to the States, after the signing of Lorius Karius made him fourth-choice stopper at Anfield.

He told Goal Hungary, “Mignolet and Danny Ward will get a few weeks after Euro 2016 so there is a strong chance I will go the USA training camp.

“My goal is to get a loan deal as soon as possible. There is not much point going to the USA after my last half-year, plus the new arrival of a goalkeeper shows they dont count on me.

“I want to rebuild my good form. I want to play games weekly and get back to the national team.

“The goal is to get loaned out. I could stay but I would need incredible luck or a lot of injuries to climb the ladder.

“I can get out of this situation by performing well somewhere else. Then if life allows it, return to Liverpool. I need to go to prove my worth.”

Bogdan joined Liverpool from Bolton Wanders on a free transfer last summer, but has had a mixed time of things on Merseyside.

He was the hero in Liverpool’s League Cup penalty shoot-out victory against Carlisle, but made some high-profile errors later in the season against Watford and Exeter City.

The 6ft5 goalie has been capped 20 times by his native Hungary, but was left out of their Euro 2016 squad in favour of Gabor Kiraly, Denes Dibusz and former Liverpool stopper Peter Gulacsi.

Reports suggest that things may get worse for Bogdan, before they get better however, with Danny Ward and Ryan Fulton expected to seal loan moves away from Anfield in the coming weeks.

If that happens, it is expected that Bogdan will be kept at the club as third choice stopper incase of injury or suspension to Mignolet or Karius.

Liverpool will play the first game of their US tour against Chelsea on July 27, before matches against AC Milan on July 30 and Roma on August 1.
