Four Findings: Wolves 0-2 Liverpool

The unbeaten streak continues!

As the festive fixtures began, Liverpool visited Wolverhampton and left with an 0-2 win at Molineux.

The Reds started brightly, applying pressure early but found a Wolves team eager to counter-attack despite being the home side.

Much of the opening 20 minutes was played in Wolves’ half as Liverpool looked to unlock a defence with plenty of bodies behind the ball.

It took until the 18th minute before the Reds finally broke through, scoring almost out of nothing. After picking up the ball, Fabinho fought off an opponent and drifted wide right. A quick one-two with Sadio Mané freed the Brazilian at the goal line for a cross, which found Mo Salah for a slick side footed finish.

The volume of rain lashing down made the pitch heavy and contributed to plenty of sloppy passing. Wolverhampton did their best to capitalize on mistakes made by Liverpool but the Reds defence reduced them to half chances. Despite the errors, the longer things remained a one goal game, the more it seemed like Liverpool might be riding their luck.

Eventually, the Reds doubled their advantage and put the match out of reach.

Salah sent a diagonal cross into the danger area, where Virgil van Dijk drifted centrally and surged behind the defence, cushioning the ball into the net. His first PremierLeague goal capped another dominant display.

Here are four findings from the match.
