Jon Flanagan joins Burnley on loan

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan has signed for Burnley on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old has been made surpless to requirements at Anfield this season and joins the Premier League new boys in search of first-team football.

Flanagan was a regular under Brendan Rodgers during the Reds’ title charge during 13/14 but his time on Merseyside has since been plagued by injury.

He did not make a single appearance for the club during 14/15 due to a build up of fluid on his knee, but returned last season making five league appearances.

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that the defender’s injury problems have finally come to an end, and a string of first-team action at Turf Moor could see his chances of an Anfield future improve.

Flanagan becomes the third Liverpool player to leave the club on loan on Friday, following Lloyd Jones and Allan de Souza out of Anfield.

Defender Jones has joined League One side Swindon Town, whilst midfielder Allan will spend the season at Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin.
