Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been speaking this week about why there is such a strong contingent of British players in his squad.
Liverpool have had British players such as Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andy Robertson all playing pivotal roles in their journey to the Champions League final.

Speaking to Sport/Foot in Belgium, via Sport Witness, Klopp explained the reasons for this:
They’re here because they’re very good, and not because they’re English or British, but if I had the choice between two players of similar ability, I’ll choose the English one. They create a good atmosphere and relate to the club atmosphere more easily.
Since joining Liverpool, the German has only signed Solanke and Oxlade Chamberlain himself, but it will be interesting to see the policy he opts for in the upcoming window.
Liverpool have been linked with moves for English players Jamaal Lascelles and Lewis Cook in recent months but there could be cheaper alternatives abroad.
