Keita criticised by boss ahead of Liverpool move

Naby Keita has been criticised over his current form for RB Leipzig by his manager ahead of his move to Liverpool, as per The Daily Mail.

After his stunning performances in the Bundesliga last season helped them finish second in the league, he earned himself a £55m move to Anfield, which will happen this upcoming summer.

During the January transfer window, with Philippe Coutinho leaving and there being speculation about Emre Can going to Juventus, Jurgen Klopp tried to bring the 22-year-old midfielder to Merseyside early for an extra £13m.

However, Ralph Hasenhuttl was adamant that he would stay in Germany to help the club get Champions League football next season, with RB Leipzig sitting third in the table behind Bayer Leverkusen on goal difference and 18 points behind Bayern Munich.

But with Keita reportedly desperate to join Liverpool as soon as possible, his form has dipped dramatically, with him scoring eight goals and making seven assist last year, but only managing three goals with two assists so far this campaign.

Hasenhuttl has noticed his form has dipped since he knew he was on the move (via The Daily Mail):

Naby is not as consistent this year as last year

It’s important that he brings his expectations back to normal levels.

Whether or not Keita and Leipzig achieve Champions League football by the end of this campaign, he will be a Liverpool player, which is what he has his heart set on, and his form may come back when he sets foot on Merseyside.
