LIVERPOOL have accepted a £13million offer from Stoke City for midfielder Joe Allen, according to John Percy of The Telegraph.
Potters Manager Mark Hughes is keen to add the Welshman to his squad after a string of good performances at Euro 2016.
The midfielder was a major part of Chris Coleman’s team that reached the semi-finals of the tournament in France.
Allen has been out of favor at Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp took charge, however the Liverpool manager was reported to be ‘desperate’ to keep hold of the 26-year old.
The midfielder made just eight appearances for The Reds since the German took over as manager, only two more than he did for Wales at Euro 2016 alone.
Despite original reports that Allen was to be awarded a new contract at Liverpool, he is adamant that he would only sign if given a regular spot in the first team; a promise Klopp cannot appear to make, with captain Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Emre Can currently occupying regular starting spots in The Reds midfield.
The Liverpool manager was reported in The Mirror as being ‘resigned to losing the player’, a thought made more concrete following this offer.
Allen was Brendan Rodgers’ second signing at the club from Swansea City for £15million, and has made 129 appearances for Liverpool during his four years at the club.
