Liverpool continued their charge in the Premier League with a routine 4-0 win over Newcastle United at Anfield on Boxing Day.
Dejan Lovren, Mohamed Salah, Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho scores the goals for the Reds as they extended their gap at the top of the table to six points.
Lovren opened the scoring for the Reds in the 11th minute with a fantastic effort on the half volley. Jurgen Klopp’s men then slightly dropped off a gear to pass it around a listless Newcastle team.
Salah won a penalty very early into the second half and scored it to virtually seal the points.
Then 10 minutes from time, Trent Alexander-Arnold found Shaqiri with a simple square ball in the box. The latter finished it first time to make it three. Fabinho wrapped up the good day with a headed finish from a corner.
In many senses, Liverpool won this game playing in second gear, which is frightening, to say the least.
