Liverpool-target Raphael Guerreiro has agreed a deal to sign for Borussia Dortmund, according to German media.
Júrgen Klopp was believed to be keen on bringing the Lorient left-back to Anfield as a replacement for Alberto Moreno, but according to Sport 1, he is close to becoming a Dortmund player.
The newspaper reports that Guerreiro has agreed terms with the Bundesliga club, and the two parties just need to agree a fee – likely to be in the region of £10m – before the move becomes official.
If the reports turn out to be true, it will be a bitter blow for The Reds, just weeks into a summer that has already seen them miss out on a number of transfer targets.
Klopp was keen on bringing Mario Gotze to Merseyside, but the German turned down a reunion with his former manager, and reported attempts to bring Ousmane Dembele to the club came to nothing when the young attacker – too – opted for Dortmund rather than Liverpool.
Reds fans can take comfort from the fact that there’s plenty of the transfer window yet, but with no European football at Anfield this season, missed signings may yet become a theme that is revisited as the months progress.
