Liverpool are eager to add creativity to their midfield this summer and have been keeping tabs on Schalke midfielder Max Meyer during this summer’s U21 European Championships.
With just 12 months to run on his current contract, Meyer is set to be sold by Schalke as the Bundesliga side look to cash-in on one of their star players, and the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal have all been linked with £17.5m moves for him.
According to Revier Sport, the 21-year-old attacker will not make a decision on his next move until July, presumably after the U21 Euros have finished.
The Reds have already brought in Mohamed Salah from Roma for a club-record fee this summer but still want to add depth in the forward areas of the pitch.
Meyer, who can play in central midfield or in a more advanced role on either wing, has been regarded as one of the top young talents in German football today and would be a real coup for Liverpool, providing they can fend off interest from both Tottenham and Arsenal.
