Liverpool U23s will face Porto, Leicester City and Wolfsburg in the Group Stage of the Premier League International Cup.
Michael Beale’s side are participating in the competition, which sees Europe’s best youth teams face one another, for a second successive year.
The young Reds will face each team either home or away, with fixture dates and venues to be confirmed at a later date.
Last year, Liverpool failed to advance from a group containing Chelsea, Celtic and Benfica after one win and two losses.
Villarreal won last year’s competiton, defeating Dutch side PSV Eindhoven 2-1 in the final.
The U23s will compete in the newly reformed Premier League 2 this season, aswell as the International Cup, but have turned down the opportunity to play in this year’s Football League Trophy.
For the first time ever, Premier League academy sides have been invited to compete in the competition, normally contested by League One and League Two sides.
But Liverpool are one of six sides to have declined the invite due to participation in other competitions.
