Lazar Markovic has departed Anfield to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce on a season-long loan deal, the club have revealed.
The loan will not include the option to buy, with Brendan Rodgers unwilling to give up on the Serbian’s Liverpool career just yet.
Markovic joined Liverpool from Benfica last summer in a £20m deal.
However, he never captured his best form, making just 11 starts in the league, scoring twice, whilst the Serb has also not featured in any of the Liverpool manager’s matchday squads so far this term.

First-team opportunities would have been difficult to come by for Markovic this year due to the high number of offensive players recruited this summer.
The likes of Danny Ings, Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi have arrived, as well as the continued improvement from Jordon Ibe, meaning the loan move for Markovic will benefit all parties.
Following the departure of Mario Balotelli and Markovic, Liverpool are still expected to offload a few more of their fringe players before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, with the likes of Jose Enrique and Fabio Borini deemed surplus to requirements on Merseyside according to the Liverpool Echo.
