After inevitably losing Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona this month, Liverpool are desperate to find a replacement and Jurgen Klopp sees Monaco winger Thomas Lemar as the best option to fill the void left by the Brazilian.
According to a report from the Times, Liverpool are willing to pay £60m for the 22-year-old but AS Monaco are standing firm for £90m, £2m less than the figure Arsenal offered last summer. Liverpool seem reluctant to cough up the £90m despite receiving £142m for Coutinho, implying Liverpool do not value Lemar this high.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will have a change of heart and meet Monaco’s demands or look elsewhere. Another player on Liverpool’s radar is 19-year-old Manchester United target Christian Pulisic. Borussia Dortmund are stubbornly holding out until the summer to discuss any sale of the American.
Liverpool have also been in discussion with Red Bull Leipzig regarding their purchase of midfielder Naby Keita. Klopp had requested for the deal for Keita to join in the summer to be moved forward to this transfer window.
Leipzig have since declined the request, which will only provoke Liverpool to be more eager to add to their squad in their push for Champions League football.
