Real Madrid teenager Martin Odegaard is hoping for a loan move to Liverpool to work under Jurgen Klopp, reports the Daily Mail.
The 17-year-old has been ordered by Zinedine Zidane to spend the season away from the Bernabau to gain more first-team experience.
Madrid are keen for Odegaard to follow team mates Borja Mayoral and Omar Mascarell in moving to Germany, after seeing current first choice right-back Dani Carjaval benefit from a spell in Bundesliga.
But Odegaard is keen to work with Klopp, and hopes the appeal of working under a German boss will help persuade Los Galactios to make a deal happen, should there be interest from the Reds.
Liverpool was one of five clubs that Odegaard spent time with training at in December 2014, but the Norweigan opted for a move to Madrid, signing for £3m the following month.
The midfielder has spent much of his time at the club in Madrid’s ‘B’ team however, scoring two goals in 45 appearances during his 18 months at the club.
He made his debut for the first team on the last day of last season and has featured again during pre-season, but for now at least, it seems Zidane thinks the youngster’s progression would be better suited elsewhere.
Whether Klopp would be interesting in adding Odegaard to a squad that already has plenty of competition in attacking midfield, it remains to be seen, but the opportunity of acquiring one of the globe’s hottest young talents may prove to good to turn down for the Reds boss.
