Sheyi Ojo set up both goals as England beat France 2-1 in their opening game of the U19 European Championships on Tuesday.
After three minutes, the youngster’s cross forced France’s Clement Michelin into sending the ball past his own goalkeeper.
Then on nine minutes, Ojo teed up Dominic Solake to double the lead.
Jean-Kevin Agustein replied for the French, but Aidy Boothroyd’s side held on for the win.
Ojo, who was subbed with 25 minutes left, is expected to feature again when England take on the Netherlands in their second group game on Friday.
They will then face Croatia in their final group game on Monday in the hope of finishing in the top two and qualifying for the Semi-Finals.
Ojo broke into the first-team last season, making eight appearances and three assists in the Premier League.
He joined Anfield fom the MK Dons youth academy in 2011 as a 14-year-old.
