A win might be a win, but Liverpool barely beating League Two’s Carlisle United, 3-2 on penalties, in the Capital One Cup offered no relief from the malaise that currently grips the club. This was not a victory to ease the mounting pressure on a beleaguered manager or his floundering squad.
Anfield was a rare canyon of boos for Brendan Rodgers’ Reds. Sentiments started during the draw with Norwich City at the weekend seem only to gather momentum and volume.
