Key battles: Liverpool v Arsenal

Liverpool will look to continue their fantastic record against their fellow top-six sides when they host Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The clash represents an opportunity for the Reds to take a morale-boosting victory following Monday’s woeful performance at Leicester City

The Gunners are currently a point ahead of the Reds in fourth, albeit having played a game less, and have lost two of their last three league games.

The same is true of Jurgen Klopp’s men, who have fallen to humiliating defeats at the hands of three relegation contenders already in 2017.

Nonetheless, they remain unbeaten against their top four rivals, and powered to a 2-0 victory over Arsenal’s North London rivals Spurs last month.

The home side will need to attack this game with similar ferocity if they are to overwhelm their opponents and thereby give their dwindling Champions League hopes a significant boost.

The last meeting between the two sides back in August proved a sign of what was to follow for Liverpool, netting four with some dazzling attacking play and conceding three courtesy of some clumsy defending.

A repeat result on Saturday hinges on whether the Redmen run out victorious in the following battles…
