Liverpool Predicted XI: Chelsea (H)

Liverpool take on Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The home side will be looking to return to winning ways after they let a three-goal lead slip in midweek to Sevilla. Chelsea had a comfortable 4-0 win in Azerbaijan against Qarabag.

Here’s how we’re expecting Liverpool to line up against Antonio Conte’s side!

Simon Mignolet

Mignolet will almost definitely come back in the side, after Karius started in the Champions League game.

Joe Gomez

Despite Trent Alexander-Arnold’s impressive performance against Southampton last weekend, I think Klopp trusts Gomez more. He may have a busy and potentially difficult afternoon if he does indeed start.

Joel Matip

Klopp said in his pre-match press conference that Matip had trained with the team yesterday. It may be a risk worth taking to throw Matip back in the side despite his recent injury problems.

Dejan Lovren

Ragnar Klavan has played a lot of football recently and it really wouldn’t surprise me if Klopp started with Lovren instead of the Estonian. It’ll be an important game for Lovren, who will undoubtedly be keen to win over most of the Liverpool fans.

Alberto Moreno

It wasn’t his finest hour in Seville. There have been a lot of Liverpool fans calling for the Spaniard’s head this week. Klopp said in his press conference that he’s “had a chat with Alberto” and trusts him 100%”. I think Klopp will stick with Moreno this weekend.

Jordan Henderson

Similarly to Moreno, there has been much criticism of Henderson this week on social media. It’s unlikely Klopp will drop him, especially with Emre Can being doubtful.

Gini Wijnaldum

Wijnaldum could be key to where this game is won or lost for Liverpool. He tends to turn it on in the big home games for the Reds.

Philippe Coutinho

There’s no doubt Coutinho will start this game. He didn’t perform particularly well against Sevilla, but he will be eager to carry on from where he left off against Southampton last weekend.

Sadio Mane

Mane returned to goalscoring form in midweek and looked incredibly sharp, especially in the first-half. He will be looking to get back to scoring ways in the Premier League on Saturday night.

Mohamed Salah

Many will think that Salah will have a point to prove against his former club Chelsea. The Egyptian has been on absolute fire in recent games and could be the match winner for the Reds, like he has been so many times this season already.

Roberto Firmino

He was sensational in the first-half on Tuesday, chipping in with two goals and an assist. I’m sure Firmino will start and I’d imagine he may only get an hour or so after completing the full 90 on Tuesday.
