Liverpool got back to winning ways at the weekend by defeating Huddersfield Town at 3-0 at Anfield and they’ll look to carry on along the same lines when they host Maribor on Wednesday evening.
The Reds hammered the Slovenian side 7-0 in the reverse fixture a few weeks ago and in truth, they should have no issues putting them to the sword again, although Jurgen Klopp will need to guard against complacency.
Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren missed the weekend’s game with injuries whilst Joe Gomez and Alberto had minor issues after the win. Klopp is unlikely to take any chances with players who might be carrying knocks so we can expect a few changes for the game.
With that being said, here’s the XI I think the manager will select:
Loris Karius
Karius is the nominated Champions League goalkeeper so he’ll start again.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
With Gomez having a minor knock, it makes sense to bring Trent in for some game time.
Joel Matip
Matip is pretty much going to start every game. It would have been nice to give him a rest but with Lovren and Gomez struggling for fitness, he’ll play again.
Ragnar Klavan
Came in at the last-minute on Saturday and looked fine, although he was hardly tested. Can see a similar type of game for the Estonian here.
Andrew Robertson
Robertson has been a forgotten man in recent weeks but this is the perfect chance for him to get some minutes.
Emre Can
Can came off the bench at the weekend but I think he’ll start at the base of the midfield here.

James Milner
Milner was probably Liverpool’s best player in the away tie against Maribor and I think he’ll get the chance to show his value to the team once again.
Gini Wijnaldum
Wijnaldum got a much-needed goal at the weekend. Hopefully that gives him some confidence for the upcoming games.
Mo Salah
There could be a temptation to give Salah a rest but I think he’ll start with a view to an early second half substitution.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Oxlade-Chamberlain deserves a start after some good appearances from the bench. There’s no point risking Coutinho whilst Firmino could do with a rest so it makes sense to start him here.
Daniel Sturridge
Sturridge got his goal at the weekend and he’ll fancy getting a few more if he starts this one.
