Liverpool Predicted XI: Newcastle (A)

Liverpool’s run of four away games on the spin will conclude this weekend as they travel to the North East to face Newcastle United and former manager Rafa Benitez.

Current boss Jurgen Klopp will likely still be trying to figure out how his side drew 1-1 in Moscow on Tuesday evening as they created so many clear-cut chances.

However, despite their Champions League frustrations, they did win their last league game and will be hoping to make it two in a row with a victory over the Magpies.

Which XI will Klopp pick for the game? Here’s my predicted XI:

Simon Mignolet

If it was up to me, Mignolet would be playing the Champions League games too. He’ll come back in for this game.

Joe Gomez

Klopp likes to rotate his right-backs and with Trent Alexander-Arnold playing the full 90 minutes in midweek, I think Gomez gets the nod in this one.

Joel Matip

Matip is pretty much a nailed on starter when fit.

Dejan Lovren

He didn’t really have much to do in Moscow but Lovren played pretty well. Let’s hope he can back that up at St James’ Park.

Alberto Moreno

The Albie Moreno renaissance is in full swing as he’s been very good this year. His pace could be a key factor in Liverpool’s attacking play.

Jordan Henderson

After a pretty terrible start to the season, Jordan Henderson has been excellent in his last two games and should be full of confidence heading into this match.

Gini Wijnaldum

Gini Wijnaldum scored against Liverpool for Newcastle the last time this fixture was played in the North East. Let’s hope he can finally bag an away goal in this one!

Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho is well and truly back! I think he starts in midfield and hopefully he can put in another great performance against the Magpies.

Mo Salah

Salah’s start to the season has been great but he is taking a bit of stick for missing a lot of chances. Hopefully he won’t need too many to get a goal in this one.

Sadio Mane

For me, he’s Liverpool’s best player. It’s his first league game back after suspension and he’ll be looking to show what the Reds have missed in his absence.

Roberto Firmino

In truth, Firmino could have no complaints if he was dropped after a pretty sub-par few games but I think Klopp will stick with him.
