Liverpool Predicted XI: Southampton (H)

Liverpool have struggled to beat Southampton in recent clashes between the two sides.

The Reds have failed to win any of the last five meetings between the sides and they haven’t even scored in the last four.

So, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be looking to put things right this weekend when the Saints come marching into Anfield.

Bar long-term absentee Nathaniel Clyne, Jurgen Klopp has pretty much a full squad to choose from for the game.

Who will he select to try to earn a valuable three points?

Here’s the side I think he’ll pick.

Simon Mignolet

Liverpool’s captain in the last game, Mignolet is a guaranteed starter in the league games.

Joe Gomez

Fresh from winning the Man of the Match award on his England debut, Gomez should be brimming with confidence.

Joel Matip

Matio has had a nice rest and should be feeling 100% ready to deal with whichever striker Southampton select.

Dejan Lovren

I’d personally stick with Ragnar Klavan but I have a feeling that Klopp will go back to Lovren for this game.

Alberto Moreno

Fresh from his international selection, Moreno will hope to continue the form which led to his call up.

Jordan Henderson

The captain missed the win over West Ham and also pulled out of England duty but he’s back fit and I expect Klopp to put him straight back in.

Gini Wijnaldum

The manager has plenty of midfield options to choose from but I think he’ll go for Gini.

Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho is back fit and got some minutes in midweek for Brazil. Liverpool have had issues scoring against Southampton in recent games and I think Klopp will want Coutinho in midfield to help create more chances for those in front of him.

Mohammed Salah

Another man who got a much-needed rest over the international break, Salah has been in amazing form and hopefully the lay off doesn’t have an adverse effect on him.

Sadio Mane

There has been a slight concern about Mane’s hamstring but it looks like he’s fit to start and as such, Klopp will likely give him the nod against his former side.
