Liverpool will look to put the pain of Monday’s 1-0 defeat to Swansea behind them as they host West Brom at home in the FA Cup Fourth Round.
Having knocked out local rivals Everton in the previous round, Liverpool will be hoping to go on a cup run as it has been too long since they last won a trophy.
With a Premier League game on Tuesday night, Jurgen Klopp will probably give one or two players a rest but he’ll still want to put out a strong team as he knows from the 0-0 draw earlier this season that Albion will not be an easy team to beat.
Here’s the XI I think he’ll select:
Simon Mignolet
Now that Loris Karius is the league goalkeeper, it makes sense for Mignolet to be the cup goalie, right?
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Joe Gomez has played the last few games but in a match where Liverpool are likely to see a lot of the ball, I think the more attack minded Alexander-Arnold will get the nod.
Dejan Lovren
Joel Matip’s injury record isn’t great and as such, I think he’ll be given a rest with Lovren coming in to deputize.
Virgil van Dijk
The hero of the last round, Virgil van Dijk will start once again.
Andy Robertson
Alberto Moreno probably still isn’t ready to return straight away so the left-back position is still Robertson’s.
Jordan Henderson
The captain is back in full training and I expect him to come straight back into the side.
Gini Wijnaldum
Wijnaldum had a pretty poor game against Swansea but I think Klopp will stick with him for this one.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Oxlade-Chamberlain wasn’t great at Swansea either but his home form has been good and he’ll hope that continues.
Mo Salah
Liverpool’s top scorer could do with a rest but I think he’ll start with a view to him coming off around the hour mark.
Sadio Mane
Sadio Mane’s form has been inconsistent as of late. He’s had some top class games, whilst he’s been really poor in others. Hopefully he can get back on track here.
Danny Ings
All indications are that Danny Ings is set to make his first Liverpool start in over two years. Hopefully it works out well for him as he’s likely to be needed a fair bit over the remainder of the season.
