Liverpool v Burnley – The Kop HQ’s match preview

Next up for Liverpool is the Premier League match with Burnley at Anfield.

The visitors are a side who we struggled against last season. We lost 2-0 at Turf Moor and had to come from behind to scrape a 2-1 victory in the return fixture.

Sean Dyche always has his troops well-drilled and they’ve already registered two good away results this season; beating Chelsea 3-2 at Stamford Bridge and drawing 1-1 at Wembley against Spurs.

They have two battering ram centre-forwards in Sam Vokes and new signing Chris Wood, so they will no doubt look to apply pressure on our weak defence from set pieces. They’re fairly solid defensively too, although their goalkeeper Tom Heaton has a long-term injury, which is a huge blow for them.

I’m sure Jurgen Klopp will make a few changes for this game. We already know that Sadio Mane is out due to his suspension but I also expect a few more alterations elsewhere.

Andy Robertson is a possibility at left back, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is pushing for a starting role and Philippe Coutinho is a potential starter too.

I’d even say Daniel Sturridge has a shout as he started the Crystal Palace game a few weeks back after a midweek Champions League game, so the same might apply here.

It’s important for Liverpool to get back on track and back to winning ways in the Premier League, so I’m expecting a reaction from the lads and I just feel we may have a bit too much firepower for Burnley and we should register a win and get a valuable three points.

Prediction

Liverpool 3-1 Burnley (Salah, Sturridge, Firmino / Vokes)
