After a much-needed three points in the Premier League, we now switch our attention back to the Champions League as Liverpool host Maribor, the side we trounced 7-0 a few weeks ago.
This is a game that shouldn’t pose the Reds many problems but I would be surprised if we reached the heights that we did in Slovenia as that score line was a bit of a freak really. Not every week you score that many goals in a game and I expect the margin of victory to be a bit smaller in this one!
We have to remain professional though and not just assume it’s an easy match as this is like Maribor’s Cup final.
A trip to Anfield will be huge to them as a club and for the individual players. They will want to try to make up for the massacre they suffered on their own patch and keep the score respectable.
Jurgen Klopp will make a few changes for the game, with Loris Karius to start in goal. There’s a chance that both full backs might be different too with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson both pushing for a starting role.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has looked quite good in his previous four or five cameo substitution appearances, so he might also get a rare start for the Reds.
This is a game that we should win quite comfortably and hopefully another clean sheet is on the horizon.
Prediction
Liverpool 4-0 Maribor
(Salah, Firmino, Sturridge, Oxlade-Chamberlain)
