Thankfully the international break is over now and there isn’t another one for four months, so we can concentrate on the real stuff.
Other than a minor scare regarding Sadio Mane, we never suffered any damage in terms of injuries this time around and we have the likes of Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson back fit and available for selection for the upcoming games.
Next up for Liverpool is a home game against modern day bogey side, Southampton. The Reds have struggled to even score against the Saints in recent times, let alone beat them. There is also a bit of bad blood between the two clubs due to recent transfer business, which has seen Liverpool sign Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Sadio Mane from the South Coast club.
Also, the much publicised illegal approach for Virgil Van Dijk didn’t please Southampton either but the Reds failed to get their man on that occasion and the big Dutchman will line up against us on Saturday.
The Saints have changed managers on a regular basis the past few years, Mauricio Pochettino, Ronald Koeman, Claude Puel and now Mauricio Pellegrino have all had the reigns at the club in modern times. All have managed to stabilise the club in the Premier League. They do have some good players still, even if Liverpool have nicked a few off them, and they rarely concede many goals. They have a solid base to work from and it won’t be easy for Liverpool to break them down.
However, with the amount of attacking options that we have at our disposal, I do think this time around we will just have a bit too much for Southampton at the weekend and I’m going to predict a 2-0 win for the Reds.
