Liverpool v Spartak Moscow – The Kop HQ’s match preview

It’s time for Champions League action on Wednesday and a game where a draw is good enough for Liverpool to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition, but a win would mean we top the group and that has to be the aim.

Spartak Moscow know that if they win the game, they will qualify and hopefully this plays into our hands as they will have to go for it and as we know, our counter attacking football can be sensational. That said, this is a game that Liverpool should control and win anyway; we are far superior to the Russians and if we perform to the standard we usually do, then I’m sure the Reds will get all three points.

Jurgen Klopp is likely to continue his recent rotation policy when selecting his team. Loris Karius will return between the sticks and I also expect the likes of Joe Gomez, Ragnar Klavan and Alberto Moreno to return to the defence.

Midfield is interesting, Jordan Henderson may get rested with Emre Can playing in the number six role whilst the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane will be read,y waiting for a recall to the starting line-up.

As ever, Liverpool being Liverpool, have let things go to the final game and another potential tense night under the Anfield floodlights is in store, but I do feel we’ll be fine and I can see us running out fairly comfortable winners on the night and I’ll go for a 3-1 win.

Prediction

Liverpool 3-1 Spartak Moscow

(Salah, Mane, Oxlade-Chamberlain / Promes)
