Liverpool come into this home encounter with current league-leaders Arsenal after a disappointing away draw at West Brom in the last gameweek to allow their Merseyside neighbours, Everton, to halve the points difference between the clubs.
Daniel Sturridge scored his 50th Premier League goal in the aforementioned draw at West Brom and he and Suarez will be looking to find the back of the net against Arsenal – something they failed to do in the reverse fixture at The Emirates earlier in the season.
While Liverpool have a superb record at home so far this season, only dropping four points; Arsenal have only lost at Anfield once in the last 10 encounters.
Both sides have injury concerns of their own. Liverpool are without a potential full back four with Johnson, Agger, Sakho and Enrique all sidelined, while Lucas is also missing.
Arsenal are without the suspended Flamini and injured Aaron Ramsey, so two-goal hero Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is likely to retain his place in central midfield as Wilshere is only set to rejoin the Arsenal squad on the bench.
While Jon Flanagan made his first Premier League appearance against Arsenal at The Emirates, he is set to continue at right-back, with Aly Cissokho on the other flank.
Kolo Toure will be looking to make up for his mistake which led to The Albion equaliser, alongside defensive partner Martin Skrtel.
One of Coutinho or Sterling is likely to miss out, with Joe Allen set to be reinstated to the starting line-up as Rodgers aims to gain control of the midfield and match Arsenal’s numbers in the middle of the park.
It will likely be our mercurial Brazilian who has to settle with a place on the bench, with Sterling currently in superb form.
It promises to be an entertaining match as both sides aim to play attractive football to obtain the points they both need to maintain their respective charges. However I’m expecting the points to be shared.
