Five things to look out for in the Merseyside derby

Jurgen Klopp will be in high spirits after his Liverpool side swept away Spartak Moscow with a 7-0 whitewash to secure their place in the Champions League knockout stages.

A Philippe Coutinho hat-trick, with extra goals scored by Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and in-form Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah ensured that Liverpool go into Sunday’s Merseyside derby in the best possible form.

New Toffees boss Sam Allardyce has started life at Goodison Park on the right path after a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in his first game in charge.

Everton are looking to spring back into a good run of form after their nightmarish start to the season, leaving them stranded around the relegation zone.

Given that the Toffees spent over £140 million in last summer’s transfer window, it is evidently clear that standards are not being met on the blue side of Liverpool.

Here are five things to look forward to in this Merseyside derby.
