Legends preview: Real Madrid v Liverpool

Possibly one of the most star-studded games of the summer will take place in front of a large crowd at the Santiago Bernebéu on Sunday as Liverpool Legends take on their Real Madrid counterparts.

Two squads full of superstars from various years gone by will play, and all the proceeds from the clash in Spain are to be donated to the Real Madrid Foundation, which has done amazing work. It focuses on promoting the values of sport both in Spain and across the globe and its use as a tool for social integration. Projects have so far taken place in Indonesia, UAE and Hungary to name a few.

There will then be a return fixture on a date to be confirmed from which all profits will be donated to the Liverpool FC Foundation. The foundation’s vision is to inspire people from all walks of life to make positive change happen for themselves and in their communities. It is an extremely worthy cause that provides opportunities by using the Liverpool Football Club brand.

Neither side are holding back with their squad selections either, for Liverpool there are inclusions for home-grown legends Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler as well as continental greats such as Luis Garcia and Vladimir Smicer.

Los Blancos include the likes of Zinezine Zidane, Claude Makelele and even ex-red Fernando Morientes. The match should live up to its billing given the calibre of players on show and could provide the Reds with some form of a win over their European rivals given their failure to do so last season in the Champions League group stages.
