New signing Sadio Mane was on target as Liverpool got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start with a thrilling 4-3 victory against Arsenal at the Emirates.

The under-pressure Alberto Moreno was at fault as Theo Walcott opened the scoring for the home side just a minute after he had a penalty saved by Simon Mignolet.

The Reds, however, equalised on the stroke of half-time as Philippe Coutinho netted a stunning free-kick and buoyed by this, they flew out of the blocks in the second half.

Adam Lallana fired them in front just after the break before Coutinho prodded home his second and Mane’s excellent individual effort put clear daylight between the two sides.

Arsenal threatened a spectacular comeback when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain reduced the deficit and Callum Chambers headed home, but Liverpool hung on to claim a superb victory.
