Four Findings: Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

There may be no European nights at Anfield this season but Liverpool will continue to chase domestic silverware under the floodlights. The Reds advanced to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1.

With a completely different starting eleven from the weekend, Jurgen Klopp showed just how much depth Liverpool have at the club. The gaffer gave teenagers Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ovie Ejaria debuts. Veterans needing to stay fresh or return to fitness rounded out the side, providing all with much-needed minutes.

The personnel changes had little impact on Liverpool’s free-flowing aggressive attacking style. Players on the fringe of the first eleven showed that competition for places will continue.

Still, the Reds were quicker, more aggressive, and created far better chances to see off Spurs. They may have conceded again but defense continues to improve as a collective unit. Ultimately, this was another match that was almost never in doubt.

Here are four findings from the match.
