Tony Pulis is a manager that has made things difficult for Liverpool in the past. Having gone unbeaten against the Reds since 2011, he arrived with his latest side of large, physical, defensively drilled players with clear tactics.
This time things did not go exactly to plan.
In a score that supremely flattered their opponents, Liverpool triumphed over West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at Anfield. The Merseysiders should have hammered the Baggies by three plus goals but a combination of some excellent saves from West Brom keeper Ben Foster and a little lack of ruthlessness made for a slightly nervy ending.
The Reds narrowly missed out on climbing to the top of the table when they conceded from a late corner. While Liverpool did get a little sloppy, they dominated their visitors almost from the opening whistle. If this was another test of breaking down a deep block side, the Reds passed with ease.
Here are four findings from the match.
