Liverpool surged to the top of the league with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Watford at Anfield.
The goals came from Sadio Mane (2), Philippe Coutinho, Emre Can, Roberto Firmino and Gini Wijnaldum with Daryl Janmaat scoring for the visitors, in a match that outlined the Reds’ title credentials with a truly dominant performance.
The game started slowly, with a couple of missed chances from Coutinho and Firmino, it looked like it could have been “one of those days”, but a Mane header and Coutinho drive within three minutes of each other after half an hour ensured that it wouldn’t be the case, and the floodgates opened.
Poetry in motion at times with sharp incisive passing, Liverpool took a stranglehold on the game and were 5-0 within no time, before Janmaat scored a mere consolation for the visitors.
Daniel Sturridge came on and rattled the bar twice before Wijnaldum finished the hammering, tapping in from a goalkeeper spillage, in a match that could quite honestly have finished double figures.
A match where nobody played badly, here are the player ratings.
