Who was Liverpool’s best player against Chelsea?

Simon Mignolet’s late penalty save ensured Liverpool ended a run of three consecutive home defeats with a 1-1 draw against league leaders Chelsea.

It was redemption for Mignolet, who had been caught napping for the away side’s opener as David Luiz drilled in a free-kick with the Reds keeper yet to set himself.

Gini Wijnaldum headed home the equaliser from close range on 57 minutes, with Anfield bouncing as Jurgen Klopp’s men went in search of a winner.

Chelsea then threatened to snatch the three points when Joel Matip brought down Diego Costa in the area, but the Spaniard’s penalty was kept out by Mignolet.

Sadio Mane returned in the closing stages after missing much of January on international duty and created a fantastic opportunity for Roberto Firmino, only for the Brazilian to head straight at Thibaut Courtois.
