Player Ratings: Liverpool 2-0 West Ham

After two clinically taken goals from Raheem Sterling and the returning Daniel Sturridge saw off West Ham United at Anfield in a 2-0 win, here are the player ratings from the game which saw the Reds go 7th in the Barclays Premier League.

Mignolet

Dependable when called upon; clocks up another clean sheet. The Belgian shot-stopper looking more and more confident and comfortable in between the sticks. Dominant when he needed to be. 7

Emre Can

Stood up to the task and dealt with the physicality of the West Ham side well. Dealt blows by Andy Carroll but defended well once again. 7

Martin Skrtel

Slightly quieter game, allowed Enner Valencia to take a shot on goal rather easily but otherwise another clean sheet and reasonably solid. 7

Mamadou Sakho

Again showed great composure on the ball, little to deal with alongside Skrtel and Can but continuing to show his importance in a red shirt. 7

Lazar Markovic

More good energy down the right hand side, willingness to track back and make himself available in offensive positions. However, most certainly should have opened the scoring on the stroke of half time from close range. 6

Jordan Henderson

Took the captaincy after Gerrard was rested. Few attempts on goal but struggled to test Adrian. Given little trouble in the middle of the park. 7

Lucas Leiva

Another very complete and effective performance from the Brazilian, breaking down the play and keeping it simple. 7

Alberto Moreno

Great energy and desire to work hard. Involved in opening goal, always made himself an option wide left when team mates had the ball. 7

Adam Lallana

Not his usual self, ineffective in the final third and struggled for a class first touch he usually provides. Trickery never really pulled off but still showed great passion and energy throughout. 6

Philippe Coutinho

Superb once again. Grabbed both assists and was always a potent threat when on the ball. Great link up play with Sterling and created chances. 9

Raheem Sterling

Fantastic initial lay-off and well taken goal to open scoring. Incredible energy, worked the defence until the end. Always looking to run at the opposition and cause problems, dragged them out and created lots of space to work in. Unlucky not to get a penalty. 8

Daniel Sturridge

The long awaited return didn’t disappoint. Expertly taken goal and a great presence for the side to have on the field. SUB

Jordon Ibe

Dangerous in the closing minutes, causing trouble and effectively making a nuisance of himself in wide positions. SUB
