Liverpool have been dealt yet another injury blow, with Adam Lallana facing up to a month on the side-lines. The Englishman has seen his influence on the team grow over the past few months, after initially struggling with form after recovering from a knee injury that caused him to miss Liverpool’s entire pre-season tour of America.
Lallana had started to produce the sort of performances that Reds fans expected when he made the £25m switch from St Mary’s in the summer. The 26-year-old has started Liverpool’s last 6 matches, including the 4-1 win over Swansea at Anfield, in which he scored a brace.
Lallana was withdrawn early in the second half during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Leicester after he felt a “tweak in his thigh”, Rodgers explained. He will now miss a number of Premier League games, as well as both Capital One Cup matches against Chelsea.
This is unlikely to force Rodgers into signing a replacement, however, with attacking midfielder Suso back in full training and Divock Origi and Jordon Ibe both potentially returning from their respective loan spells later this month.
