Liverpool legend John Aldridge has stoked the fire ahead of the Reds’ game with Paris Saint-Germain by calling Neymar ‘the biggest cheat in world football’.
The former Reds’ striker warned Jurgen Klopp’s men about the Brazilian, saying they need to be careful around him as he will do whatever it takes to gain an advantage.
In his Liverpool Echo column, Aldridge said:
Liverpool have to be careful when they face Neymar because for me he’s the biggest cheat in world football,I couldn’t believe some of his diving and playacting at the World Cup in Russia. He’s one of the most gifted players but he lets football down with his antics. Liverpool have to be canny because the PSG attacker will be doing everything he can to gain an unfair advantage at Anfield on Tuesday night. We need the referee to be strong and we need our defenders to avoid any silly challenges.

The former Republic of Ireland international went on to say that although Neymar is clearly talented, he’ll never be held in the same regard as some of the best players in history due to his antics.
When you’ve got that amount of skill, you don’t need to behave like Neymar does and it’s sad to see. It’s the reason why he will never be rated as one of the all-time greats, alongside the likes of Pele, Maradona and Messi
Liverpool will be hoping to keep Neymar quiet at Anfield tonight as the Reds look to get their Champions League campaign underway with a win.
