- Juventus are interested in signing Alisson from Liverpool
- The Brazil international is open to a Serie A return, but remains respectful to the Reds
- Fabrizio Romano is on top of the situation
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dropped a fresh update on the future of Alisson Becker, revealing that the Liverpool goalkeeper is seriously considering a summer move to Juventus.
It is now an open secret that the Bianconeri have identified Alisson as their dream target to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of next season.
This is despite the Reds recently triggering the option to extend the former AS Roma star’s contract by another year, tying him down until 2027.
Meanwhile, Alisson is also reported to be open to the idea of returning to Italy by joining Juventus, as he sets his eyes on what could be the last major contract of his career.
Fabrizio Romano reveals two reasons why Alisson wants to join Juventus
Fabrizio Romano dropped a significant update on the future of Alisson Becker, revealing that Juventus have now made a “serious approach” to sign the Liverpool goalkeeper this summer.
Speaking on his YouTube channel on Monday (27 April), the transfer specialist disclosed that the Turin giants are pulling out all the stops to lure the 33-year-old back to Serie A.
With the Reds facing a pivotal summer under the FSG hierarchy, the Italian side is reportedly ready to test Alisson’s resolve with a contract offer that provides the long-term security he may no longer find on Merseyside.
The Juventus proposal: A return to Italy?
According to Romano, Juve have tabled two distinct contract structures to entice the Brazilian:
- Option A: A straight two-year deal with a performance-based option for a third season.
- Option B: A guaranteed three-year contract, which would see Alisson remain in Italy until 2029.
The prospect is said to be particularly “enticing” for the Liverpool No.1 due to the presence of Luciano Spalletti. The duo previously enjoyed a highly successful period together at AS Roma, and a reunion in Turin is believed to be a major factor in Alisson’s current thinking.
Despite all that, Alisson remains respectful to Liverpool and is keen to understand their stance on the matter before proceeding further.
Therefore, it is now up to Arne Slot’s side to decide if they are prepared to sell their number one, especially considering Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are already leaving.
ReadLiverpool verdict: Liverpool must not sell Alisson
It would make sense for the club to sell Alisson from a financial point of view.
It is hard to see the reigning Premier League champions extend the veteran’s contract beyond next year, which means they are likely to lose him for free anyway.
Juventus’ desire to sign the custodian this summer means that Slot’s side have a chance to pocket a transfer fee from the sale.
However, such a sum is likely to be minimal anyway, and Liverpool must resist the urge to cash in on their first-choice goalkeeper.
Salah and Robertson’s departures mean that the Anfield outfit are going to be short on leaders from the Jurgen Klopp era.
With the club clearly in a state of transition, they cannot afford to lose several key members of the squad at the same time.
Although they have Giorgi Mamardashvili at their disposal, the jury is still out on the Georgian and his ability to take over as the club’s number one.
That is the six-time European champions must not sanction a move for Alisson this summer.
