Expected to recruit a new goalkeeper in the summer, Liverpool saw their name linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Bernd Leno yesterday but now they appear to be facing competition for his signature.
The Guardian report that the Reds will be joined by Arsenal in their pursuit of the Germany international as they too also look to resolve their goalkeeping situation.
Arsenal are aware that Petr Cech is growing long in the tooth and they will need a long-term replacement for the Premier League’s clean sheet record holder, and have identified Leno as a potential recruit.

Leno is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga but the 26-year-old is understood to be favouring a move to Napoli over Liverpool, according to claims yesterday.
Valued at £25m, Leno will be an in-demand property come the summer with now Arsenal entering the race to sign him, but Liverpool consider the Leverkusen star as their fallback option for Roma’s Alisson. However, the £60m-rated Brazilian is also wanted by Real Madrid and PSG.
