A report in the Telegraph has claimed that Barcelona are preparing to make a bid for Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
This news follows numerous Spanish reports claiming that the Catalan club are readying a bid of around £15 million for the Dutchman.
Ronald Koeman’s appointment as manager at the La Liga club has sparked the interest, as the former Holland boss looks to link back up with his countryman.

The Reds have hit a barrier regarding Wijnaldum’s contract negotiations as the 29-year-old has now entered the final 12 months of his current deal, meaning the Reds will need to sell this summer in order to get any money from the player’s departure.
Wijnaldum was instrumental in the semi-final second leg turnaround as Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Barca 4-0 to advance to an ultimately successful Madrid final with the Dutch midfielder coming off the bench to score twice in the second half on that memorable Anfield night.
If Koeman has his way, it seems Wijnaldum’s future will be in a Barcelona shirt.
Despite his services to the club where he has been an integral part, his contract situation and Liverpool’s continued pursuit of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich could see the end of Gini as a Red.
It would not be an ideal situation for Liverpool to lose Wijnaldum so close to the new season but if he does leave, it’s imperative that he is replaced with Thiago the obvious candidate to be signed.
