Tottenham and Liverpool are battling it out to sign £20m-rated West Brom striker Saido Berahino, according to the Independent.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to his first season in the top flight, scoring 8 goals in 16 league starts. Berahino is reported to be looking for a move away from The Hawthorns, and interest has seemed to intensify after his four-goal haul in West Brom’s 7-0 win against Gateshead in the FA Cup.
Another player who has previously been linked with both clubs, Wilfried Bony, has today stated his desire to move to a Champions League club in this month’s window.
With Alvaro Negredo out on loan, and both Stevan Jovetic and Sergio Aguero having as many injury issues as ever, the champions have turned their attention to the Ivorian. Manchester City are prepared to pay up to £50m in transfer fees and wages to get their man, according to The Daily Telegraph, for the striker who scored 16 goals in his debut Premier League campaign.
Another rumoured Liverpool target, Fabian Delph, is said to be the subject of a bid from Tottenham. The England international is likely to be available for a cut-price fee this month, with his contract expiring this summer, and Spurs look to test Villa’s resolve with a £3m offer, The Mirror claim.
