Liverpool are ready to step up their interest in Inter Milan’s Mateo Kovacic by offering striker Fabio Borini as part of a deal to sign the midfielder.
The Serie A club have reiterated that they will not sell for anything below their asking price which currently stands at €25million, according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.
Now, Gazetta dello Sport are reporting that Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool are willing to include Italian forward Borini in a new offer, after their initial £15m bid was thought to be rejected by Inter.
It is believed that personal terms have been agreed between the Croatian midfielder and the Merseyside club and a disagreement regarding the fee is what is holding back a potential deal from being completed.
The 21-year-old made 40 club appearances this year for Inter, with six goals and three assists.
Borini, who has found appearances at Anfield hard to come by since joining in July 2012, was also linked with Lazio towards the end of the Barclays Premier League season.
