City won’t bid £50m for Sterling

In the latest development in the ongoing Raheem Sterling transfer saga, it appears Manchester City are not likely to meet Liverpool’s £50m valuation.

Following two consecutive bids, that both fell short of the required fee, a third attempt seems inevitable, but Manchester Evening News understands that Sterling will have to wait for his move, as City play hard ball.

Sterling’s desperation for a transfer, and his apparent unwillingness to remain a Liverpool player, has become more and more evident as of late.

His current tactics however, of ‘phoning in sick’ rather than attending a training session this morning, have not pushed through an immediate third bid from the side from the blue half of Manchester.

According to John Cross of the Mirror, much of Sterling’s reasoning behind a move away from Merseyside is due to his relationship with Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers. Or rather, the lack of relationship, as it is said that there has been a ‘complete breakdown’.

Cross claims that ‘broken promises’ by Rodgers over privacy are a huge issue. Sterling’s refusal to attend Liverpool’s upcoming preseason tour, for example, is alleged to have been leaked by the club. Naturally, Rodgers denies this claim.

In other related news, the agent of Raheem Sterling, Aidy White, has been dealt a blow. West Bromwich Albion’s star frontman Saido Berahino is no longer a client.
