According to Paul Joyce of The Express, Colin Pascoe will be the second name to leave the Liverpool backroom staff, after Mike Marsh was told his contract would not be extended once it runs out this month.
Clearly from the fall out of the meeting with FSG this week, Rodgers and the ownership group have decided that major changes are needed to arrest what turned into a shocking decline in the Premier League in recent months.
Pascoe, who was Rodgers’ right-hand man at Swansea City, was Liverpool’s assistant manager, and will leave a now gaping hole in Liverpool’s backroom staff.
With no news yet on who will replace him or Marsh, one would hope that there is some plan put in place by Rodgers, otherwise it could be another harsh year ahead for Liverpool and a summer of uncertainty for the club.
It is an interesting twist on a situation that only really saw Brendan Rodgers come under scrutiny for last seasons’ failings. One would also wonder who has made the decision to part company with Pascoe, and will no doubt lead to questions about other members of Liverpool’s coaching staff in the days that follow.
