Philippe Coutinho returned to Liverpool training at the club’s Melwood training ground yesterday, returning from international duty with his native Brazil.
This comes after the midfielder’s dream move to Barcelona failed to materialise, with Liverpool rejecting multiple bids for the number 10, with the last apparently reaching an extraordinary £139m.
Coutinho was in the Brazil squad for games against Colombia and Ecuador, with the Seleção achieving a hard fought win against Ecuador, in which Coutinho scored, but they were then only able to draw 1-1 with a brave Colombia side four days later.
The midfield talisman appeared to be all smiles before his first training session since pre-season, somewhat dismissing reports of his ‘anxiety’ at his move to Barcelona not happening.
The player is yet to appear for Liverpool this season, and fans may have to wait even longer to see him in action with manager Jurgen Klopp hinting that he is unlikely to walk straight back into the starting XI.
