The future of Danny Ings looks to be coming to a swift conclusion, as the Liverpool Echo reports that he has rejected a final contract offer from his current club Burnley, who were recently relegated to the Championship from the Premier League.
It was always known that Ings would not be plying his trade at Burnley next year, and rejecting this compulsory transfer offer has lead Burnley to agree to allow Ings to open contract talks with Liverpool.
Except for a late change of heart by either parties, a deal could be agreed between the under 21 international and Liverpool as early as this week, leaving only the formality of signing the contract on 1st July when his current deal with Burnley expires.

Once a deal has been agreed with Ings, Liverpool must then conduct negotiations with Burnley for a compensation fee for the player, as all players under the age of 24 who leave on a free transfer command in this country.
There has been talk of a late Tottenham bid for the player, but once Ings informed Spurs that his heart was set on a move to Anfield, this never materialised into anything to worry about.
Rumours of a Spurs £12 million bid hiking the compensation fee for the player are wide of the mark according to the Independent, however it is easy to see how Burnley will try and negotiate as high a fee as possible with Liverpool, as Ings is Burnley’s star player.
If no value is agreed between the two clubs, the case will go to a tribunal, who are likely to set a fee of around £4 million pounds for the player.
